How do I apply for cover with the Worldwide Expatriate Association?

Simply complete the forms and either fax or email them to the numbers provided. Then mail the original in with either your first month's premium or credit card information.

In which countries can I receive treatment?

Where the necessary medical treatment for which you are covered is not available locally, you can avail of treatment in any country within your area of cover. In order to seek reimbursement for medical treatment and travel expenses incurred, you will need to submit a Claim Form for reimbursement. Where the necessary medical treatment is available locally but you choose to travel to another country within your area of cover for treatment, we will reimburse all eligible costs incurred within the terms of your plan, however, we will not pay for travel expenses incurred.

What happens if I return to my home country?

If you are a US citizen, you need to let us know you are back after 30 days, so that we may adjust your rates. You can then keep the plan for up to 12 months at the US rates. If you are not a US citizen and you return home, you may keep the plan in place up to age 70.

What if I change my address?

Any change in your home or business address should be communicated to us as soon as possible. Contact one of our Sales Representatives if you need assistance or write to info@weadirect.com.

What happens in an emergency?

Immediately seek treatment! If you have to seek emergency care, please do not wait to do so. Either, you, your dependents or physicians can contact the company after you are stable, so payment arrangements can be made. When possible make contact with the company within 48 hours.

What if I need emergency medical evacuation?

Emergency medical evacuation is a medically supervised air ambulance that is arranged by the company in the situation where your doctors and the company determine that the proper care for your situation is not available where you are located. At that time, you will be flown to the nearest country with the medical facilities that are needed to perform the procedures you require. Emergency Medical Evacuation MUST be arranged by the company for coverage to be in effect.

How do I file claims?

There are two ways that claims can be addressed. First, you can pre-certify your visits with Wea and have them contact your physician in advance to make payment arrangements. This will allow you to get a favorable rate and potentially lower the portion that you are required to pay. Second, you can pay your claim and submit the claims for reimbursement. After you receive your doctor’s paperwork, you can complete the claims forms available on this site, and submit your medical claims within 180 days of the date of service for reimbursement or application toward your deductible. If you do NOT submit your claims within 180 days, they will not be paid or considered for application to your deductible.

What if I have a question about my claims?

You can contact a claims representative at 800-222-3020. They will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

What if I have questions regarding my premium?

If you have any questions regarding your premium or premium payments please contact us at 305-443-9610. We would be happy to discuss any questions with you.

What happens if we become pregnant or have a child?

If you become pregnant, you will need to complete the maternity questionnaire that is provided on this website. If you do not complete this for, coverage for the maternity expenses and labor and delivery can be reduced. After the child is born, you will need to notify us of the birth within 30 days. If the child is not added within 30 days of birth, the child will be subject to underwriting and will not be added as of the date of birth. That means that expenses that the child incurs in the hospital after birth will not be covered until the first of the month that the child is added to coverage.

Can I buy prescription drugs with the WEA plan?

Yes you can. When you are overseas, you can either purchase your medications from your local pharmacy and submit the claims to the company as with any medical expense, or you can use the Canadian Prescription Order form that is provided on this website. This will allow you access to the same medications available to you in the United States at a considerable cost savings. While you are in the US, you must use the U.S. pharmacy discount system that is provided. The full list of participating pharmacies is available on this web site.

What if I need to make changes to my plan? When can I make those changes?

If you need to make changes to the plan, please contact us at 305-443-9610. Any changes to coverage can be made at any point during the year. You do not have to wait until your policy anniversary. The changes that you request will become effective on the first of the month following your request. If you are increasing coverage, for instance, lowering your deductible, the company will require that you complete an evidence of insurability form that we will provide to you. If you are lowering coverage, for instance, increasing your deductible, there will be no requirements for underwriting.
